- "I don't know what this is all about, but I'm reasonable. I'll give you a choice. Do you walk or do I carry you?"
- ―Shingleton in the novel.
Deputy Shingleton was one of Sheriff Will Teasle's deputies for the Hope, Washington police department and is one of the three tertiary antagonists in First Blood.
He was played by David L. Crowley, also best known for his recurring role as Lou Welch in the first two seasons of the science fiction TV series Babylon 5.
First Blood[]
Shingleton came along for the forest ambush, where a few of the deputies went to find John Rambo after he escaped from police custody.
Shingleton followed behind Sheriff Will Teasle. After Teasle ran off to give attention to Balford, he was grabbed by Rambo and pulled off-screen. He was then seen cut up and tied to a tree, wounded and crying for Teasle's help. Shingleton was the fourth deputy to be dispatched by Rambo.
His fate is unknown, although it is more than likely survived.
