Posttraumatic stress disorder is a severe mental problem usually suffered upon witnessing horrific or traumatic experiences. It is a common problem with soldiers, including John Rambo.

PTSD, as it's referred to usually, is usually when someone has reoccuring nightmares of the same event they witnessed. Victims of child abuse, sexual molestation, rape, and soldiers exposed to hostile fire and brutal violence often have alienation, rage, depression, mood swings and a change in personality following the experience that triggered the disorder. It is most severe in soldiers.
